Working on Student Visa – Explained

You can work on a student visa – conditions apply. It is absolutely important you comply with these visa conditions to avoid your visa being cancelled. As a student, you can work upto 40 hours a fortnight when your course is in session, but you cannot work before your course has commenced. If you are studying masters degree by research or doctoral degree, the 40 hours a fortnight condition does not apply. However, if you are studying masters degree by coursework, the 40 hour a fortnight condition still applies to you. If you are bringing your family with you on your student visa, your family can also work for upto 40 hours a fortnight. However, if you are studying a masters or doctoral degree, then your family can work for more than 40 hours a fortnight.
