Going Regional – Explained

Why not live in Gold Coast, Adelaide, or Perth? These are some of the cities in Australia that are considered “regional”. For migration purposes, there are benefits in going regional Australia. For points-tested skill migration, going regional gives you access to the Regional Occupation List of 77 occupations. In addition to the other 2 occupation lists, Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) – State Nomination stream visa applicants have access to a total of 504 occupations to select from. If you have a relative already living in regional Australia, they maybe eligible to sponsor you for the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) – Family Sponsored stream visa. With the sponsored visa, you do not need to worry about State nomination.

There are benefits also for students studying in regional Australia. If you apply for a Temporary Graduate work visa after you complete your studies, you are eligible for additional 1 or 2 years on your visa giving you more time to qualify for future permanent resident work visas.
