Claiming Work Experience Points – Explained

For Points-Tested skill migration, you can claim work experience points for your Expression Of Interest (EOI) submission. However, not all your work experience can be used. Some assessing authorities, like the Australian Computer Society (ACS) will use the necessary number of years of work experience you have for its skills assessment. If your skills assessment is successful, they will determine a date when you have met the required skill level for your occupation. Only relevant work experience completed after this date will be considered Skilled Employment and eligible for points under the skilled migration points test.

How many years of work experience you need to obtain a successful skill assessment from ACS, and hence how many years of work experience you can claim points for will depend on a number of factors, including what qualifications you have.
